Canyon Lake was holding onto a 2-0 lead when the Greyhounds loaded the bases without a hit. Romero’s only walk followed by a fielders choice and a hit batsman gave Boerne it’s best chance to do damage.

“Oh! Goodness what have I got us into,” Pitcher Romero exclaimed. “We have to get outs.”

“The defense have worked hard,” Romero continued. “That gives me more confidence in myself.”

After a short convention at the mound, Romero proceeded to strike out the side and douse Boerne’s chance to do damage.

The bottom of the fifth inning the Hawks put the game out of reach with seven of the eight batters having productive at bats.

Beseda started the inning off with a single, then Vicky Henderson followed suit with a single putting runners at the corners.

“Now it is time to go after Fredericksburg and Bandera,” Romero said intently.

“We have been preaching for the team to be aggressive,” Head Coach John Gallagher said while talking about the offensive output the past three games. “We have to do a lot mentally for the next two games…..the girls still remember the Bandera game and the way the game ended….they talk about it everyday.”

The cement is not set yet for the Hawks as they have a chance to make a run for Bandera. The next two games are on the road and will give Canyon Lake a chance to improve on their status.
