Volleyball: Hawks Win Must Game, Beat Boerne

The hard fought game against the Boerne Greyhounds keeps the Hawks in good position for the district run. Canyon Lake won the match in four games, 25-17 ,18 -25, 25-22 and 26-24.

The Hawks came out on fire when they jumped out to a 13-6 lead after a rally off of Marisa Ellis serves. The tight game was not tight the rest of the game.

Canyon Lake enjoyed ten point leads throughout the game, finishing 25-17.

Kendall Felps was very instrumental in the victory setting the stage for the contest.

“Losing was not an option,” the Junior Outside Hitter Felps admonished. “This was an exciting game and we need to build up wins.”

Canyon Lake is stocked with a lot of younger players and have been spending the season looking for the right rotations and lineups. Wins have not been plentiful.

The bigger picture is how the team reacts when the wins and losses have more impact and that time is now.

“We needed that win,” Felps said. “This should help.”

The rest of characters who will need to set the stage for this District year had good games also.

Junior Katie Williams controlled the outside with 13 kills while Sophomore Amber Ramsey took care of the middle court with her kills and blocks.

Junior Marisa Ellis was all over the court again in this game, pitching in with 26 assists, 15 digs, 4 blocks, and 4 aces.

“Their points were all off of our errors,” Head Coach Nicole Creek said. “We just need to take care of our game…we have to have these big ones. The girls did good and this will give them confidence.”

Canyon Lake has just completed their second district game and know that all the games count for the chance of realizing another playoff run.
