The Lady Hawks know what standard that is needed now as they look towards next season.

This year’s team will not have the thrill of advancing to the playoffs like the previous two Hawk teams.

The first game Canyon Lake kept the score close trailing 6-8 going into the last half of the rotation.

Then the flood gates were opened and the Hawks could not get any rallies going to equate with the lethal Lady Texans.

Wimberley is one of the mainstays in Volleyball as they have set up a permanent residence in the playoffs for many years now.

Even with a heavy graduating class from last seasons final four team, the Texans showed one of the best team efforts seen this year in the Hawks gym.

The third game was when Canyon Lake brought there best game of the evening to the forefront.

Sophomore Amber Ramsey served a four point rally that gave the Hawks a 7-4 lead early. The rally was helped with two kills from Cayla Foster.

“I was telling myself to keep it going,” Amber Ramsey said. “I wanted to be big and kill hard.”

During this stint you could see how the future could be bright for Ramsey and also the Hawks.

Foster is a Sophomore and started the season late after a injury during Track Season last year.

Canyon Lake stayed competitive as they were still within striking distance being down 13-15 and 14-17.

“We had our moments and played pretty well in the third game,” Head Coach Nicole Creek admonished. “We were making some good attacks.”

Wimberley will win District 26-3A and people at the game also saw that the Hawks had some fight left in their season.

“Next season we are going for the playoffs,” Ramsey finished. “We are going to step up and play as varsity…the back row will be stepping it up.”

Canyon Lake’s last game will be this Friday as they finish this year’s season in Fredericksburg.

Next week the ReSporter will have a wrap-up for this year’s club while also looking into the future to see what might be in store for next year.
