CL Freshman Boy’s Win over Lehman place Hawks 5th in Wimberley Tourney

Canyon Lake Boy’s Freshman team also played in the Wimberley Tournament this past week-end and below you will have a couple of games results.

Both games were played on Saturday and CL lost in their first game against Texas School for the Deaf, 53-37.

Some of the players were commenting on how quiet the game actually turned out to be. When their opponent did not talk, neither did the Hawks.

Communicating is important in any sport and The ReSporter is sure that even so their opponent was deaf, you can bet that they were communicating.

The battle for 5th Place in this tournament was a match-up with Lehman.

Canyon Lake started slow and could not get any traction as they scurried into the final quarter trailing, 44-38.

The Hawks finally had the lid opened on top of their basket as they poured in 20 points in the fourth quarter, helping to stage a comeback after an eight point third quarter.

That outburst allowed Canyon Lake to not only catch the Lobos, but also gave them a six point victory, 58-52.

Zach Gregory had a great game with 22 points, while being joined by Joseph Arredondo and Brandon Ward, both finishing with double figure scoring, 11 and 10 respectfully.

“We finished in fifth place, but we had a big win against Lehman,” Coach John Barthels said. “They along with us were definitely a better team than where we matched up in this game.”

Congrats and let’s have some more 4th Quarters like you staged against Lehman.
