Canyon Lake Boys Golf team had another good showing this week at the Wimberley Invitational when the team finished 2nd with Skyler Tschoepe garnering medalist honors shooting a 72 for first place in the tournament.

Garrett Winters was not that far behind as he finished his round in 4th place carding an 81.

Bennie Brownlee (103), Sam Sheppard (104), Justin Bruce (127), and Will Gray (139) finished out the team scoring with a 360 total.

“I thought we played well in Wimberley this week,” Head Golf Coach Lucas Chapman said. “I was very happy for Skyler (Tschoepe) and his first place finish. He (Tschoepe) has put in a lot of work, and deserves this. I am also very proud of Garrett (Winters). He has been very solid and consistent so far this year.”

Canyon Lake is certainly playing some of their best golf since the school has been in existence.

“Our other guys stepped up and gave us some good scores too,” Coach Chapman reiterated. “We just need to keep improving and getting each week, and we will be able to compete in district.”

Canyon Lake’s Girls team also had a decent showing

“Our girls played well too,” Coach Chapman said. “Those poor girls have played in some horrid weather the last two weeks, but have hung in there and competed. We still have a ways to go, but it’s nice to have a team and be able to post a team score.”

Canyon Lake has been short on numbers through the years and now the Hawks are just not individuals, but a team when they hit the links.
