Braden Duke, Bradley Hight, Braden Hight, and Colton McDonald after win over Bandera JV, 46-0

Canyon Lake’s Junior Varsity football team was another success story as this team also won their district race as their were several high marks in accomplishing this goal.

Number one, is having a team that was comprised of mostly sophomore students.

What is significant about this tidbit?

This year, the Hawk Varsity, had the most sophomores playing varsity than CL’s first official year of putting on the pads.

So with a number of players already in an upgraded uniform, you can see that winning district would compliment the number of players still not able to make the jump to that next level.

Thank about how a group of players that not more than 2 years ago were playing in Mountain Valley as 8th graders that has now lost practically that whole ‘A’ team that ran through that successful campaign.

Not only that, but this JV team also had players that moved to the Hawk Gold team who was a winning machine too.

The stats below does not show 4 games and that needs to be taken into account as you peruse the numbers.

Some of the stats below to take note of:

1. The run defense was stout as this group gave up just 2.7 yards per rush. There were two games that the CLJV defense held to minus rushing.
2. That also translated into just allowing 147 yards per game for total offense.
3. Offensively, the JV was able to have 13 players that had at least one rushing play and six of those backs rushed for 92 yards or more.

Canyon Lake is loaded as in these past two years, MVMS has supplied an enormous amount of players to the campus and each season you see more and more success.

The Hawks did not have a great season record wise this time but with each new year there is another group of players coming up the ranks from Mountain Valley.

This year, both the A & B squads from the MV 8th grade won their district title.

That will simply give you an idea that CL has a chance of some years of teams with the ability of raising the water for all those boats on Canyon Lake to success.

The average score for those 6 games of stats below was an impressive ending number as you can now start ordering those season tickets for some years that will hopefully get CL past the second round of playoff games.

Average Score for JV Whoever: 14.3
                        CLJV: 23.0

As the water starts to rise be sure to have those life jackets handy and certainly be prepared to board a boat as this will be a nice ride.

Go Hawks!!
