CL Hawks are Schooled by Navarro in Loss to Panthers, 0-3

Canyon Lake was schooled in their game with Navarro on Friday night as the State Ranked Panthers swept the Hawks, 13-25, 11-25, and 23-25.

The Panthers had height and played much of their game above the net as the shorter and younger Hawks would chalk this contest up for experience as they are now aware of where they will need to aspire for as district looms closer.

CL had a 7-6 lead in the first game after two aces by Anna Bettersworth but the fun ended with the next Navarro serve.

Sr. Amber Voigt works on getting Hawks going in game with Navarro.

That Panther server would instigate an 11 point rally to put the game out of reach quickly.

In the second game, Canyon Lake trailed 3-4 and would lose touch with the tougher Navarro team as each server would have points scored on their service.

The largest lead was the final score as the Panther pressure was relentless throughout the game.

For the final game for this night, the Hawks, would take advantage of the Panther bench and led through much of this battle until a timeout and a chance to bring the starters back into the game.

CL had a 4 point lead when this timeout was called, 22-18 and that would be the extent Canyon Lake’s chance of pulling off a game in the best of 5 set.

                          Go Hawks!

Alysha Perez led the Hawks with 4 kills and 10 digs, while Faith Hasness let CL with 11 assists.

Eden Farley and Bettersworth both had two aces and Bettersworth led the Hawks with 3 blocks on this evening.

Canyon Lake will be on the road in Austin Akins next Tuesday and then the Hawks will welcome Wimberley to the Hawk nest this coming Friday.

District 28-4A play will begin on the 26th of this month when Boerne will commence the opening for the games that count.

Go Hawks!!
