CL Hawks Get Back to Winning Ways Beating Austin Akins, 3-1
Canyon Lake Hawks got back on the winning road after beating 6A-Austin Akins last Tuesday night.
The win came after the team suffered two losses the week before in losses to Johnson City and Navarro.
“I felt the intensity and positivity on the court was better last night,” Head Volleyball Coach Kim Paisley surmised. “We will capitalize on this as we work towards district!”
There certainly are losses during a season, sometimes the key is when those losses causes the team for some soul searching in time before district gets started.
“We had a good heart to heart after the Navarro match on Friday,” Coach Paisley continued. “We revisited personal and team goals and we have had very purposeful practices….We needed the win against Akins after last week’s performance in order to move forward in a positive manner as we get closer to district.”
Coach Paisley has not finished below 2nd place in a district race after her first campaign four years ago.
This Akins game had Senior Faith Hasness getting several leader stats for the set and Paige Bower and
Anna Bettersworth were both in double digit for steals with 10 each.
Bettersworth was erecting an iron curtain during the contest with 6 blocks for the Hawks.
Canyon Lake will be in action this Friday night and a full house would be a good sign as the football team will be on the road.
“We need to be intense from here on out,” Paisley closed. “We play Wimberley this Friday which is not a district opponent this year, but they are our rival and a potential first round playoff opponent.”
The Hawks will go into this game working on a 5 game winning streak over the Texans.
Make it 6 games!!
