The CL Hawks met their match in loss to Fredericksburg on Tuesday night after starting this game with a slow start and eventual loss, 54-33.

                    Go Hawks!!

Both teams were unblemished record wise but now there is only one team that stands atop District 28-4A play with just one more game remaining in this first round of district battles.

“We had a real slow start,” Head Coach Zach Burleson stated. “We didn’t handle their pressure well at all initially. We did a better job after the 1st Quarter….but the good news is that we know that we can play better and that is what we discussed and will move on.”

The Hawks were also missing one of their main cogs in the paint as Caroline Kullberg missed this contest.

Jessie Melendez finished another night with double figure rebounding with 12 and now stands in 2nd Place on the All-Time list.

Marley Carrizales led CL with 4 steals and is closing in on the All-Time Season Steal’s list needing 9 more to overtake Ashley Pfaff who set that goal during the 2010 season.

“Our effort was good,” Coach Burleson closed. “We played hard but it was just not our night. We have a couple of things to correct like moving toward the ball on passes and making passes earlier.”

“Fredericksburg are a real good and if you aren’t on top of your game, they make you pay,” Coach Burleson assessed in how the Billies are ranked in the State. “It will be a similar type of game on Friday.”

This Friday, The Lake, will be back at the Hawk Nest playing Bandera which is a team that can score points.
