             ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

                     Go Hawks!!

The Hawks will have another week in facing a first time opponent when Canyon Lake will travel south for the 2nd week in a row to Jourdanton for this week’s battle.

This will be a game of polar opposites as far as the offensive philosophies with a slot-t versus a throw first and run second.

This Indian team has averaged a little over 39 points with their one loss over a 4A power team in Calallen by 21 points.

Cole Andrus has passed over 1000 yards and will use a passing play rather than a play on the ground.

In their game with Calallen, this Indian team had just 14 running plays compared with 55 passes.

There has not been a Jourdanton player to run over 100 yards for the year yet, but on the flip side, there are 4 athletes that have gone over that century mark via a reception.

Jarel Lilly is the leading receiver with over 300 yards and Brett Berg is next in yardage gained by receiving who is making those plays coming out of the Indians backfield.

So a steady dose of passing plays coming into this Friday’s contest.

Where Jourdanton will have a weakness comes on the defensive side of the line of scrimmage.

Canyon City Grill says Go Hawks!

In a game against Calallen, Jourdanton faced a team that ran the ball that led to a 21 point win over this strong 3A school.

In that loss for the Indians, Calallen scored 28 points in the 4th quarter with being a larger school being able to take advantage of depth and having enough to outrun the smaller school.

Canyon Lake has made a decent living via the run which is not a surprise, but in those last two games, the Hawks, have placed 2nd and 3rd best rushing games in the Hawks short history.

A Hawk passing game will need to get back in the groove which should be a good way for taking a win in a game that might be another shoot out for points scored.

And GO HAWKS!!
