The Hawks beat the Consolation Champion SA Cole on the first day and Bandera for their second round contest before taking care of Lions on Saturday.

“Canyon Lake Hawks attacked relentlessly during the first half of the Copa Canyon Lake 2021 Championship, but were repelled by the SA Christian.

The first half was even, 0-0 as would be the end of regulation. Shawn Bell notched the shoot-out, along with a strong defensive effort from the backline.

Canyon Lake have played five games now and Head Coach Cody Schroeder was impressed.

“By far our best half, offensively and defensively,” Coach Schroeder started. “We ran our system consistently and created numerous chances while limiting the opponent defensively but just could not capitalize.”

Coach Schroeder continued, “We feel good about our progress today, the nature of the game makes it difficult to score sometimes, but our chances were plenty.”

The game will go down in the record book as a tie, the Championship will go to The Lake.

Bell saved the first penalty, which proved pivotable, as all five Canyon Lake shooters would score; Josh Sczech, Josh Nelson, Collin Pressgrove, Alex Gracia, and Dillon Clark.

Canyon Lake will travel to Taylor to battle the Ducks on Tuesday and begin a stretch of three consecutive games on the road.
